We bring together people who can make a difference
Stem the Slide™ (“STS”) is a 501(c)3 non-profit that brings together its network and expertise to raise discretionary operational funds for extended out of school time (“OST”) programming. OST programs are an essential piece to combating The Summer Slide™. STS is launching a POP-UP drive-in movie experience as one of its key initiatives. The showings and other events will serve as a fundraising events for the Los Angeles County Alliance for Boys & Girls Clubs and will offer a safe and affordable entertainment option for the Los Angeles County families and community.
Genaro Trejo
CEO, Cofounder
Stem the Slide™ is headed by Genaro Trejo, a private equity investor and former COO for Heart of Los Angeles (HOLA), an after-school arts, academic, and music non-profit recognized nationally for its joint ventures with groups like the Los Angeles Philharmonic (YOLA at HOLA), the Weingart Foundation, the Los Angeles Lakers, and the Geffen School of Medicine. In his time there, Genaro helped grow the organization’s reach (extending service capacity to 2,300 students and their families), while helping to finance and build a 24,000 square foot STEM/STEAM and performance arts building made entirely of refurbished shipping containers. HOLA’s building is located at Lafayette Park in LA’s Rampart district, one of the most densely populated and under-resourced areas in the United States.
Genaro is originally from East Los Angeles, California and received his degrees from UCLA (BA, Political Science, specialization in Chicano Studies), The University of Chicago (MPP, Public Finance, and Economic Policy). He also completed the Executive Program in Non-Profit Management at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Ryan Hilterbran
COO, Cofounder
Ryan Hilterbran is a seasoned executive with experience in marketing, branding, e-commerce, and operations. He has helped develop multiple start-up companies from the ground up and understands the fundamentals required to build, grow, and operate a successful business.
Previously, Ryan worked at Cabeau for 8 years, a leading international manufacturer and distributor of travel products known for its popular series of Evolution travel neck pillows. As the start-up company's co-owner and 1st hire in 2011, he helped grow the company to $25M+ in revenue in 2018. He served multiple roles over the years, including VP of Global E-Commerce, Chief Marketing Officer, and Chief Business Management Officer.
Ryan graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts from Southwestern Oklahoma State University and currently resides in West Los Angeles, CA with his wife, Megan, and two daughters, Evely and Brya. In his free time, he loves to play music, travel with friends and family, and discuss the delicacies of life with those so inclined.
